Fresh herring roe from the Norwegian coast

Romega is roe extract from Norwegian spring-spawning herring. The herring is fished along the Norwegian coast, and large parts are collected just outside Møre. We collaborate with several fish reception centers, and are lucky to have fish reception centers in the vicinity of Ørsta. Here we are talking about short-haul herring.

To ensure that the roe quality is good, we are always present at the fish reception when the herring catch comes in. We take samples regularly, where we examine the water, oil, color and size of the roe grains. During the fishing season, we take out many hundreds of tons of roe. These are frozen in 20 kg blocks that are stored in a cold storage in the nearby area.

Gentle processing of the raw material

The oil from herring roe is extracted using a process that we have developed ourselves in Ørsta. This is a very gentle process where we constantly ensure that the product does not come into contact with oxygen or unnecessary heat. We do this to keep the oil in Romega as fresh as possible.

We fill the finished oil into barrels which we then send to our capsule manufacturer. This manufacturer also makes the finished boxes with Romega, which are designed in Ørsta. The boxes are then sent out to our customers all over Norway.
